I truly believe that learning a new language is an enriching yet challenging experience, it requires commitment while carrying on with busy lives, so it is key to find the best solution that works for you. British Sign Language (BSL) is a beautiful language and I am sure you will enjoy learning it!

I create bespoke training packages to suit your needs and whether your preference is learning face to face or via Zoom on your computer, I offer both.

For the in-person courses, I currently cover the areas of Loughton, Chigwell and Buckhurst Hill ,which can be taught in the comfort of your home (I hold an enhanced DBS certificate), just as a 1:1 for you or for your whole family, or caregivers (grandparents for example). 

My courses are fun and engaging, without the added pressure of sitting an exam at the end. However, should you wish to do so, I can refer you to a certified centre.

An example of my offer is below:

- Basic BSL: a brief 6 weeks introductory course of the duration of 1 hour each week that covers the very basics of BSL. This course is suited to individuals (16+) , families and businesses. It can be delivered on a 1:1 basis, group or during a weekend. You will learn fingerspelling, greetings, colours, numbers, transport and how to hold a basic BSL conversation. This course can also be tailored for little ones (pre-school children).

- BSL Nursery Rhymes: a 3 hour brief course, split across 3 weeks (1 hour each week), to learn 2 signed most famous nursery rhymes at each session (total of 6). This course is suited to families who have or look after a deaf baby or child (up to pre-school age), whether they are parents or grandparents, nursery and school teachers, childminders, nannies, providers of baby courses or anyone who is interested to learn to sing and sign! 

When you enrol in one of my courses, material (PDFs and video lessons) is included, to support learning throughout and revisit once the course has ended.

Should you need extra support, 1:1 tuition can be arranged of course.

At present, I deliver courses during evenings (6pm-9pm) Monday to Friday term time (see dates here   Academic year 2024 to 2025 | Essex County Council ) and weekends (days and evenings).
